Full-Circle Connection via ‘The Happiest Place’

I gave a talk recently at TEDxSanta Cruz where I shared a personal story that I had never shared with anyone prior, even myself. This share was uncovered for the first time in a very public setting partly because prior to being invited to talk at TEDx I had not yet succinctly processed the affect that my extensive involvement with Bhutan had had on me personally. It solidified when I was required to do that deep dive while creating my brief talk. I won’t spoil the story except to say that the crux is about deep connection. We’ll wait to see how we get connected when the video is live on the TEDx website. Because what I wanted to share today, in light of the final days of our films Kickstarter campaign, is that I’ve come full circle. That the possibility of what I suspected an immersion in Bhutan could offer my life, and your life though our film, is even bigger today than I imagined with the initial idea. And even sitting here at 5:00 AM on a Saturday morning writing this brings tears of excitement to my eyes, for you.

During the process of our seeking a film maker and director for Expedition Bhutan I had an introductory phone call with Ben Henretig—that lasted two hours. Ben and I didn’t talk about logistics or production or specifics of how a film about our physical journey could possibly be made. We talked about our passions. I animatedly shared about my vision of immersing myself physically and culturally in this tiny Himalayan Kingdom that governs by a document called Gross National Happiness. That I had a strong hunch that traditional and still developing Buddhist Bhutan could offer the world a poignant message or two. And without ever having had that lively conversation with Ben prior, he got it. Fully. His passion met mine in that exciting first call and I knew without hesitation he was the man to tell this story.

Its still remarkable to reflect on; the seed of the idea to cross the country of Bhutan, to that first

conversation with Ben and then to the present Kickstarter campaign for the film, and all that has transpired in between. THAT is a story that will be told, but the big share to you now will be this bold beautiful film of four adventurers who took on the pristine, rugged country of Bhutan with their big, strong minds and bodies, only to be transformed—in their hearts. Because Bhutan does that. It causes you to get that if we drive our lives from a place of the heart we can get clear about what we’re connected to, or not. And not just in our communities but within ourselves. Authentic connection.

I got that profoundly and I want you to experience it too through our film—in a REALLY big way. Right now we are not only the highest funded film currently on Kickstarter, but we are on the edge of having everything we need to create the most significant share of Bhutan for you. All because Ben’s the real deal. He nurtured this whole project out of passion. He left his successful life and work and invested significant personal time and money, side by side with our four Expedition teammates, because through my spark of an idea he created a passionate vision. And now that spark will come to life for you through Ben’s tireless passion. Become a part of our happiness conversation. Join the journey. Lets go all in because what I know for certain is that if we do, you’re in for a moving and life changing adventure.

Go to Kickstarter and peruse the support levels to see which one you connect with the most. Then share that link with all your friends on Facebook or via email. Share this blog post—we want as many people on our inspiration-sharing team as possible!

Back at you soon,

Terri
