The Gift of Travel—Bhutan

Its been 5 years since I first set foot in the iconic country of Bhutan. Significant events have transpired since that first life-changing day; Expedition Bhutan experienced the entire country west to east, a film was made of our journey—Crossing Bhutan, an international marathon and half marathon was created continues to thrive, two Bhutanese Expedition Bhutan team members have visited the U.S., fundraising efforts have supported women entrepreneurs in the country as well as the Bhutan Olympic Committee, and I’ve twice ridden one of the most grueling one-day cycling events on the planet. Over these past 5 years I’ve spent over a year living and volunteering in the country, making life-long friends while co-creating ever more initiatives which will help the country grow […]

Being Fit Rocks! Big Holiday Specials

Being Fit Rocks!        I’ve had the privilege of coaching hundreds of athletes over the past 30 years and am continually inspired by how their choice to be fit positively affects their lives. That influential effect isn’t relevant to how fast or skilled an athlete is. Though it is related to their choice to maintain a daily consistent baseline of fitness—at which ever level they choose. Observing this, while consistently practicing my own diverse fitness program, has motivated me to publish more tools for athletes and aspiring athletes at all levels; whether that means offering coaching programs, how-to-books, or by sharing inspiring stories to motivate and encourage. I feel so strongly that Being Fit Rocks our lives in every way, that this holiday I want to offer you and […]

Putting Swimmers Workout Handbook to Use

Today I was coaching my usual noon, masters swim workout at Simpkins Swim Center. As I was writing the workout up on a white board for the swimmers to view, a regular Tuesday swimmer jested with me, “Isn’t that cheating?!” I was writing down a workout taken from a book I was looking through. “Nope,” I countered, “This is a book I wrote of swimmers workouts!” That said, my book, Swimmers Workout Handbook, is designed for recreational or competitive swimmers, triathletes and coaches to use. On the pool deck. Or when writing up your swim workouts for your club, team or swimmers. No cheating with this Handbook, just a smart way to give effective, interesting workouts every day. So have at it! A perfect […]

 Creating Our Future

Reflecting back on 2016 so many exciting, notable and moving memories come to mind. As I look forward to another fulfilling year I ask  the question—what do I wish to create in 2017? The long awaited Crossing Bhutan was premiered at Santa Barbara International Film Festival to a standing ovation for Ben Henretig, as well as several others festivals last year and I am now thrilled to share it with those in my hometown on January 27th—join us! My newest book, Dirty Inspirations, came out with a poignant and exciting book signing at my favorite, Book Shop Santa Cruz. I then took the book on my 8th trip to Bhutan, while once again supporting the Bhutan Olympic Committee in producing the 3rd Annual Bhutan International […]

Connection

What a gift when someone you don’t know easily connects with something you’ve deeply shared. I found the below review on amazon about my book, Dirty Inspirations, and am so grateful for this kindred seeker—someone who deeply ‘got’ the premise(s) for my writing this book. Since mom’s death I’ve been kinda numb, sad and quasi-checked out and this connection instantly drew me back in to life’s loveliness. Thank you, thank you, to my intrepid reviewer. May your trails be windy, crooked and full of questions. “There aren’t enough superlatives to describe the insights Terri Schneider shares into the minds of endurance athletes in Dirty Inspirations. Schneider begins in her days as a IronMan triathlete covering a swim, bike and race course […]

Science of Ultra Podcast Interview – All About Possibility

While on my last venture in Bhutan I had the pleasure of chatting with Shawn Bearden of Science of Ultra Podcast. We talk about possibility, joy, adventure and the natural tendency of humans to go after big adventure, all woven within the pages of Dirty Inspirations: Lessons From the Trenches of Extreme Endurance Sports. Shawn was a thoughtful interviewer and I want to thank him for all the work he puts toward a top notch podcast. Enjoy!
